His Reflection (4)

Kula's Fall:

Kula Diamond stood on the street, her face a mix between apprehension and excitement.

“Finally! I’ve found him!” She thought to herself, “now all I have to do is get him back to NESTS and everything will be fine!”

Kula had noticed, by then, the unusual fire on K’s hands, “What did you do? Play with ravens for too long?” She mused her white-haired adversary haughtily, ecstatic to finally find him.

K’ made an irritated sound, “Cut the crap.”

“My, you haven’t changed one bit. Com’on, I really don’t wanna fight. Come back with me to NESTS and we’ll do something about that faulty personality of yours.” Kula sneered. She was indeed spoiling for a fight; not that she really wanted K’ dead… but she was being forced to do it.

K’ kept his cool and looked at Maxima, unsaid words being passed between the two.

          “Let’s go!” Maxima mumbled.

He immediately charged towards Kula. The long-haired girl let out a bored yawn. As she began to summon her icy powers, the air around all of them turned still and even colder. She then casually blew a cloud of tiny crystals from her hand, towards the approaching Maxima.

The large man foresaw that and blocked off the attack that had reached him before he could get within five meters of his enemy. Kula sighed then did a high leap over Maxima’s figure and planting several kicks into his exposed side.

Maxima grumbled slightly and knocked Kula off her feet with a low, swift kick. Then he gave her a taste of his ‘Vapor Cannon’ move up-close, and in her face.

Kula was flung across the street from the force of the move, but landed on her feet, only bleeding from her nose slightly.

“You’re supposed to be gentle on girls.” She yelled out tauntingly, preparing her next assault.

K’ watched it all, unmoving. He wasn’t exactly sure on what to do. He didn’t know how to fight with his own fire gone. In fact, he didn’t even know if he could execute any move now…

Kula, on the other hand, was pretty darn anxious to get rid of Maxima. She had been ordered to capture only K’, without Maxima. Right now, he was a big pain in the ass to her, getting in her way.

Spotting a trash bin next to her, Kula smiled to herself and gave it a darn good, hard kick in Maxima’s direction.

The latter instinctively blocked off the flying garbage, letting his guard down…

“Maxima! Look out!” K’ yelled frantically, on realizing what was going on.

But Kula was too fast – When Maxima looked in her direction (or at least where she last was), Kula was gone. Suddenly Maxima’s vision got clouded by a screen of transparent blur, and he blacked out.

K’ had watched Kula Diamond reappear behind Maxima and knock him out cold by freezing him in a large block of cruel ice. Now her victim was like a statue, in a standing position with his face locked in an expression of surprised horror.

Kula brushed her hands daintily and admired her handiwork for a second before addressing K’, “Now that he’s out of the way, let’s just get this over and done with.” She sighed wearily.

Anger bubbled in K’ like lava in a volcano about to erupt… but what could he do? Without his fire, Kula Diamond would defeat him too easily.

“Dammit. What the heck. At least put up a fight…” He swore to himself, taking a few worried glances at the mass of ice that prisoned Maxima.

Kula’s aura of power increased as she eyed K’ suspiciously. The area grew much colder and K’ began walking towards his foe dispassionately, his black fire suddenly burning with newfound energy.

          “A little over-confident aren’t you?” Kula said.

          “…”

Kula watched her enemy bemused, as the latter approached her slowly. He stopped three meters from her and glared with those piercing eyes of his, sizing her up.

Kula was on her guard the whole time, and was also dying of curiosity and tension, watching her arch enemy do such a peculiar thing. The silence right then was defending. They stood, facing each other, waiting for something to happen.

The girl kept her eyes from looking into K’s for the whole time. Why?

I’m afraid that I’ll find some humanity and warmth in him. Because if I do, I won’t be able to treat him as I do now,” Kula answered her own question quietly, “I have no choice.

She then gave herself a mental kick and began her attack on K’.

Doing her icy uppercut out of the blue, Kula expected it to catch k’ completely off guard. But much to her dismay, K’ sprang into action the second she moved; jumping away slightly and kicking her mid-air.

Kula resorted to trying to freeze K’s hands when she had landed. She ran pass K’ in a sudden flash and reappeared back at the spot she has started, waiting for the odd fire on K’s hands to get snuffed out and replaced by her ice.

To the surprise of both white-haired youngsters, nothing happened. K’ was mildly glad. He took the opportunity of Kula’s frustration to perform his ‘Minute Spike’ kick on her.

She was unprepared, but blocked it off just in time. She fumbled a bit and got kneed in the ribs by her opponent. Retaliating by freezing his legs to the ground, Kula gave him a good punch on the abdomen while K’ was immobilized. Then she elbowed him down into the cold hard ground, face flat.

Blood stained the side of his mouth when he lifted his head. Kula was standing right above him, looking just about ready to finish him off.

In a frantic moment of desperation, K’ did his ‘Crow Bite’ with the black fire. Kula was struck aside from it and got thrown onto the ground pretty roughly.

“What?” She uttered, looking at her suit that had been burnt rather badly in some places.

K’ was not far from Kula, his hands no longer burning with fire. He had no time to wonder what made the black flames disappear. Kula Diamond was still around and after his blood.

Kula got up grumpily and charged towards K’. The man vanished from Kula’s sight and appeared behind her, delivering a heavy punch into her back. Kula whirled round and got K’s foot in her face.

Furious, the girl backed off quickly and went offensive by freezing some pieces of garbage and kicking them at K’, intending to distract him like she had done to Maxima.

K’ hit the garbage aside quickly, never allowing Kula out of his sight. He then slide towards Kula in an instance and performed a series of kicks and heavy punches that hit home, injuring Kula.

“That’s it!” K’ heard Kula yell.

The girl flipped K’ off balance when she grabbed his leg and yanked it upwards. The latter landed hard on his back and felt the world suddenly turn cold around him.

Kula was just beginning to trap K’ in her ‘Ice Coffin’ move when he began charging up on his ‘Heat Drive’ move. Kula immediately jumped far back, preparing to block or avoid the completely.

“I don’t know if this will work, but I have to try.”   K’ mumbled as he held his hand out, half-expecting his flames to fail him again. Flames did come, but they were black. Caught up in the moment, K’ didn’t really care; as long as there was fire. Then he waited for the right moment…

Kula was in awe of strange sight before her; K’ was being engulfed by black flames all over his body. This can’t be good, she cursed, and braced herself.

K’ let loose, all the anger he had towards Kula in his ‘Heat Drive’ move. He felt somewhat different doing it now though, he charged towards his foe much faster than before and the power of the black flames seemed odd.

Kula had only a fraction of a second to react. She desperately performed her ‘Diamond Edge’; sending three enormous icy spikes erupting from the ground in front of her.

K’ would have been struck by Kula’s move, ordinarily that is. But now, he went through the icy spikes and knocked Kula high into the air with the full force of his ‘Heat Drive’. Behind him, the icy spikes disintegrated in the wake of the black flames overwhelming them.

The girl tumbled back down to earth, bleeding quite a bit and suffering from a few fractures in her ribs.

“How could he…? When did he get so powerful?”

Kula urged herself to get back up on her feet. She couldn’t. She felt really sick now, slightly nauseous plus the pain of K’s ultimate attack. She was able to withstand most of his attacks three months ago, why not now?

K’ was no longer burning with black fire all over. Seeing Kula utterly defeated, he walked over to her calmly. The girl was having trouble breathing and glared at K’ with hatred-wrecked eyes as she growled, admitting her defeat.

“Whatever. Just finish me off now.” Kula took a slow breath and got ready to die.
