“SNK’s annual KOF
competition, how fascinating.” Gunmeister thought, as she trashed the computer
yet once again with Iori. She smiled at the word ‘PERFECT’ flashed on the
screen as Iori did his cool, stylish pose. “Imagine what I can do if I get to
be the King… I wonder where Master Sycia is.”
Her Iori did seem flawless.
That is, if she were just to play against the computer. What she found out later
was that she did not know how to abuse Iori’s advantage- his speed. Against human
players, her Iori was horrible. She managed to get straight wins, but heck, that
won’t do against Brenda. Her Athena and Benimaru weren’t good enough against
Kaori and Barb either. She knew she might lose, but her strong determination and
hunger for victory drove her on to train day and night; at home and in the
arcade. She MUSTN’T lose. Not if she want to prove herself in the SNK’s
Annual KOF competition.
“I think my sista is
sick, she is beginning to be a freak.”
“Hmm? She is still
training like mad?”
“Ahah… don’t know why
too… sigh…”
“Sigh…”
Stardust was worried for
her sister’s health. Seems like Gunmeister might fall sick anytime. The day
before the challenge arrived soon. Gunmeister stopped her training and went out
with Jonathan the whole day. Stardust was relieved to see her sister back to
normal.
The next day, a large crowd
gathered behind the competition machine. The trio were waiting already.
Gunmeister entered the arcade with Jonathan, and sat down in front of the
machine. The competition was on. Athena, Benimaru, Iori and Joe were chosen by
both parties.
ROUND 1
Gunmeister VS Barb
Athena VS Athena
Barb was good, and her reflexes were quick, which gave Gunmeister trouble. After few exchanges of blows, the game ended with a double KO!!!
ROUND 2
Gunmeister VS Kaori
Benimaru VS Benimaru
Kaori’s Benimaru was even
better. She made good use of Counter Modes. Gunmeister did a mistake by jumping
at Kaori’s Benimaru. Kaori called for Counter Mode and Gunmeister’s Benimaru
flew to the ground. A striker was called. Then with a jump + D, stand + C, then
to a Shinkuu Katategoma (HCB + C). She calculated accurately and cancelled into
a Hurricane Phantom DM!!! (QCF X2 + D) Gunmeister was defeated! Gunmeister’s
Iori took on Kaori easily and the final match…
FINAL ROUND
Gunmeister VS Brenda
Iori VS Iori
Brenda’s skill in Iori
was displayed once more, but that skill was nothing compared to Master Sycia’s.
It seemed that it would end in a draw. Then, Gunmeister’s Iori did a QCF, HCB
+ C Maiden Masher DM out of the blue. Brenda did have the time to block and
counter, but she stopped there, and did not move. Gunmeister won again.
“What? Why did…”
Gunmeister was cut off her sentence.
Barb spoke. “We were
testing ourselves, to see if we could enter the Annual competition, but we are
just to inexperienced.”
Kaori followed. “Please,
Gunmeister, do us a favour by winning the competition.”
Finally, Brenda, “We
wanted to prove gals prowess too, but you are the best person for the job.
Please…”
The three of them bowed and
walked off. Gunmeister looked on with a smile, “ I promise…”
Gunmeister turned to the
dumbfounded crowd.
“Mess with the best, Die like the rest
I will prove gals prowess, mark my words.”
